Many are the reasons for
joining Mensa. Many are the reasons that people are active or not
active in an organization they may have joined. Spending time
enjoyably with people and activities, perhaps with occasional
intellectual stimulation, is a foundation on which a program
chairman might make plans.
For programs in the coming
months, the following are under consideration.
The
Budget Process for the City of Memphis as presented by a city
council Member.
The
Brooks museum, past and present.
Islam in Memphis.
Iwo Jima as remembered by
a marine who was there in 1945.
Smith and Nephew, a new
way to walk.
Immigration and
Naturalization, how it is done.
Sun Studios, the dream
factory.
Mensa activities can
also include "field trips". Such trips
will be primarily by private car on a "Dutch treat" basis
and can be from a few hours to perhaps three or so days in duration.
One Mensa member or a hundred or so may go depending on available
accommodations and the extent of interest. Such trips could be
guided or self-guided. The following are possibilities:
The National Civil
Rights Museum (Passes have been provided to us.)
Southland Greyhound
Racing
Alex Haley’s home in
Henning
Motorsports’ Park
Backstage at the Orpheum
Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Antebellum homes in Holly
Springs
The Pink Palace Museum
Nashville, Tennessee
Gospel Singing
Elmwood Cemetery
