Coors Tour
September 11, 2004

On September 11, 2004 a group of us met at the Coors Brewery to see first-hand how beer is commercially made. The hour-long tour of the plant facilities ended with a taste-testing of many of the beers manufactured by Coors.

What a place to work... employees are given a free case of beer each month PLUS they are encouraged to volunteer to work in the quality control department routinely -- tasting the beer as it comes off the assembly line! Where do I apply?

Our tour guide showing us all the various Coors products.

  • The "Golden Brewery" was founded in 1873 by Adolph Coors.

  • During Prohibition, the plant managed to stay open by manufacturing malted milk and a near-beer called Mannah.

  • Coors Brewing Company introduced the first two-piece can for distributing their product.

  • The Coors Golden brewery is the world's largest located on a single site.

  • Besides the Golden and Memphis plants, Coors also owns a packaging facility in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

I have no idea why I took a picture of the floor. Must have seemed interesting at the time.
